Travel Guides:

The best travel guides I know are Christopher Baker´s Cuba Handbook and David Stanley´s Lonely Planet Cuba. Both books contain a lot of information on individual travel in Cuba. They contain many adresses like train stations, bus stations, connections with public transport and so on. Both authors travelled themselve as backpackers through the country and give brief reports of their personal experiences. In addition both of them contain several city maps of most cuban cities. The actual edition of both books was released in 2003, so that both of them contain actual prices and information.

Also Christopher Baker has written a new travel guide book specialized on Havana. This book gives a lot of valuable information for the individual traveller in Havana. Public transport, taxi fares, accomodations, cheap but good quality restaurants - the amount of interesting information is not limited. This book will save you the price you paid for the book several times by saving you from wasting money in the city.

Especially for divers Lonely Planet offers another travel guide: Diana William´s Lonely Planet Diving and Snorkeling Cuba. Detailled descriptions of all diving places within Cuba and other useful information for divers.
